Am Reisenberg Vienna: One of the Most Beautiful Wedding Venues in Vienna
Am Reisenberg is one of the most distinctive wedding venues in Vienna. Located among the vineyards of Döbling, high above the city, it offers something quite rare: the feeling of a countryside wedding surrounded by nature, combined with spectacular panoramic views across Vienna.
If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Vienna with vineyards and panoramic city views, Am Reisenberg is certainly a location worth considering.
Having recently photographed a wedding at Am Reisenberg, I had the opportunity to experience the venue not simply as a visitor, but from a photographer’s perspective—from the afternoon light and outdoor celebrations through to dinner, dancing and the illuminated city below.
The wedding began at around 5 pm and continued until approximately 11 pm, allowing me to experience how beautifully the atmosphere of the venue changes throughout the evening.
Planning your wedding at Am Reisenberg? I would love to capture the beauty, atmosphere and unforgettable moments of your day.

Because the couple chose to purchase a privacy agreement for their wedding, I am not able to publish photographs showing them or their guests. Instead, I am sharing photographs of the venue, its surroundings and its atmosphere, together with my personal experience of photographing a wedding there.
If you are considering Am Reisenberg for your own wedding, I hope this gives you a useful idea of what makes this Vienna wedding venue so special—and also of the practical details worth considering before you book.

Where Is Am Reisenberg?
Am Reisenberg is located at Oberer Reisenbergweg 15, 1190 Vienna, in Vienna’s 19th district, Döbling.
The venue sits above Grinzing, in one of Vienna’s most beautiful wine-growing areas. Rather than feeling like a traditional city venue, Am Reisenberg is surrounded by vineyards and greenery, with Vienna stretching out below.
This is perhaps its greatest appeal. You are still in Vienna, but once you arrive, the atmosphere feels remarkably removed from the city.
For couples travelling from abroad, it can also be a wonderful way of incorporating something genuinely Viennese into their wedding experience. The vineyards of Döbling are an important part of Vienna’s identity, and the combination of wine country and city panorama gives the venue a very particular sense of place.

Why Choose Am Reisenberg as Your Wedding Venue?
There are many beautiful wedding venues in Vienna, but Am Reisenberg has a character of its own. The combination of vineyards, greenery, open space and panoramic views over Vienna makes it particularly appealing to couples who don’t want a traditional ballroom or hotel wedding.
The venue can be used exclusively for one event, giving couples and their guests privacy throughout the celebration. The indoor and outdoor areas can also be combined, allowing different parts of the wedding day to flow naturally from one space to another. For couples who want their wedding to feel elegant but relaxed, sophisticated but connected to nature, this balance can be very appealing. And for photography, it offers an enormous amount of variety.

The View Over Vienna
If you are considering getting married at Am Reisenberg, the view is something I would absolutely incorporate into your wedding plans. Vienna lies below the venue, creating a spectacular backdrop that changes throughout the day. During the afternoon, you have the bright city panorama and surrounding vineyards. As the sun becomes softer, the landscape takes on a warmer atmosphere. Later in the evening, Vienna begins to light up beneath you. Having photographed a wedding here from approximately 5 pm until 11 pm, one of the things I particularly enjoyed was watching this transformation. The venue doesn’t look exactly the same at 5 pm as it does at 9 pm. And that gives the wedding photographs a natural progression—from daylight and greenery to warm evening light and the city illuminated below.

Am Reisenberg Wedding Photography
From a photographer’s perspective, Am Reisenberg is a very rewarding location. You have several different environments within the same venue:
- vineyards and greenery
- outdoor areas and terraces
- the panoramic view over Vienna
- the architectural elements of the venue
- the indoor lounge
- evening city lights
This means that the wedding gallery can have plenty of variety without spending precious time driving to different locations. That is particularly important on a wedding day. Instead of taking the couple away for an extended portrait session, you can create beautiful photographs throughout the natural flow of the celebration.
Your Am Reisenberg wedding deserves photographs that capture not only how it looked, but how it felt.
Let’s talk about your wedding.

Plan Your Wedding Timeline Around the Light
If photography is important to you, I would recommend discussing your timeline with your photographer before finalising the schedule. At a venue like Am Reisenberg, the light is a major part of the experience. You don’t necessarily need a long portrait session. Even 10–15 minutes with your photographer during the best evening light can make a significant difference. You can step away from the celebration for a few quiet moments, take photographs among the vineyards or overlooking Vienna, and then return to your guests. It doesn’t have to interrupt the wedding. In fact, these short moments can become some of the most memorable photographs of the day.

Getting Married at Am Reisenberg: Ceremony Options
Another advantage of Am Reisenberg is that you can celebrate several parts of your wedding day in the same location. The venue can accommodate civil and free ceremonies, with indoor and outdoor possibilities depending on your plans and the weather. For couples, this means less logistical movement during the day. Your guests don’t have to travel from a ceremony in one part of Vienna to a reception somewhere else. Instead, they can arrive at Am Reisenberg and remain there throughout the celebration. From a photography perspective, this also means more time for the actual wedding rather than transportation between locations.

Indoor or Outdoor Wedding?
One of the things I like about Am Reisenberg is that the venue isn’t simply dependent on having perfect weather. The lounge has a large glass front that can be opened towards the outdoor area, creating a connection between the interior and exterior. The venue also has air conditioning, underfloor heating and fireplaces, making the space suitable for different seasons and weather conditions. Of course, I would still recommend discussing the exact rain plan with the venue before booking. Ask where the ceremony would take place if it rains, where cocktails would be served and how the dinner and reception would be arranged. But having a proper indoor alternative is a significant advantage for a wedding venue surrounded by vineyards.

Getting to Am Reisenberg: What Your Guests Should Know
This is one practical detail that couples should think about early. Am Reisenberg is located among the vineyards rather than in central Vienna, so getting there requires a little more planning than reaching a conventional city wedding venue.
There is no conventional parking directly at the venue. The venue recommends parking in Cobenzlgasse, followed by a walk of approximately 300 metres. Taxis can drive to the venue, and a shuttle can also be arranged. Public transport is another possibility, but for a wedding—particularly one with international guests—I would seriously consider arranging transportation. A shuttle from the guests’ hotel to Am Reisenberg and back again at the end of the evening can make the entire experience much more comfortable. This is particularly helpful for elderly guests, families with children and anyone arriving in formal shoes.

A Small Tip: Tell Your Guests About the Shoes
This may sound like a very small detail, but it is worth mentioning. Am Reisenberg is a vineyard location, not a city-centre ballroom. There is a short walk involved from the parking area, and the surroundings are natural rather than entirely paved. A simple note on your wedding website recommending comfortable shoes for the journey to the venue can save your guests a lot of discomfort.

What Happens If It Rains?
A vineyard wedding naturally comes with one big question: What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
At Am Reisenberg, the indoor space provides a genuine alternative rather than simply being an emergency backup.
The lounge and its large glass front allow the indoor and outdoor areas to work together, while heating and air conditioning make the venue adaptable throughout the year.
I would still recommend asking the venue to walk you through the exact wet-weather plan before you book.
A good wedding venue should give you a clear answer to this question.
And while nobody can control Vienna’s weather, having a solid plan means you don’t have to worry about it.

Catering, Music and the Reception
Am Reisenberg can host wedding dinners and receptions, and the venue works with catering and event partners. However, this is one area where I recommend asking detailed questions before signing your contract.
Couples should clarify:
- Which caterers are available?
- Can you choose your own caterer?
- Is there a minimum catering spend?
- Are staffing or cleaning fees charged separately?
- What are the arrangements for the wedding cake?
- Are vendor meals included?
- What bar options are available?
- How late can music continue?
- Can you have a live band?
- Are there restrictions on outdoor music?
- What exactly is included in the venue hire?
These details can vary depending on the wedding, so they should always be confirmed directly with Am Reisenberg.

How Many Hours Should You Plan for Your Wedding?
The wedding I photographed began at approximately 5 pm and finished around 11 pm, and I thought this worked particularly well for the location. It allowed the wedding to move naturally through different stages of the evening. There was still plenty of daylight when the celebration began. Later, the light became softer, the atmosphere more intimate, and eventually the city below began to sparkle.
For couples who value photography, I would avoid creating an unnecessarily compressed timeline. You don’t need to schedule every minute. Give yourself enough time to enjoy the venue, talk to your guests and experience the transition from afternoon to evening. And leave a little space for your photographer to take you away for a few minutes during the best light.

My Experience Photographing a Wedding at Am Reisenberg
Having recently photographed a wedding at Am Reisenberg, I came away feeling that the venue has something quite special.
It is not simply the view. It is the combination of everything. The vineyards create a sense of escape. The elevated position gives you Vienna as a backdrop. The indoor and outdoor spaces allow the celebration to evolve throughout the day. And as evening arrives, the city lights create an entirely different atmosphere.
From a photographer’s perspective, this gives you opportunities throughout the entire wedding—not just during the couple’s portrait session. And from a couple’s perspective, I think that is equally important. The venue allows you to have a celebration that feels private and intimate while still giving your guests the experience of being in Vienna. You don’t have to choose between the city and the countryside. At Am Reisenberg, you get both.

Is Am Reisenberg the Right Wedding Venue for You?
If you’re looking for a wedding venue in Vienna with vineyards and panoramic city views, Am Reisenberg should definitely be on your list.
I would particularly recommend considering it if you are looking for:
- A private and exclusive wedding venue
- A vineyard setting within Vienna
- Panoramic views over the city
- Indoor and outdoor possibilities
- A ceremony and reception in one location
- A more intimate alternative to a traditional hotel wedding
- Beautiful surroundings for wedding photography
- A relaxed but elegant atmosphere
- A memorable evening setting overlooking Vienna
The main thing to plan carefully is transportation. But once you arrive, that slightly secluded location is exactly what makes Am Reisenberg so memorable. You are in Vienna, but surrounded by vineyards. You have the city below you, but nature around you. And as the evening progresses, you get to watch Vienna change from a daytime panorama into a sea of lights. For a wedding, it is a beautiful setting. And as a photographer who has had the opportunity to experience it firsthand, I can say that Am Reisenberg is a venue that photographs as beautifully as it feels in person.
